What Could Trigger an Early Migration?
What could trigger an unusually early or late migration? Climate change, global warming, and invading humans are a few examples of causes for changing migrating patterns. Climate change is linked to global warming. Global warming is melting the polar ice caps, temperatures are rising, rains are coming earlier or are delayed, storms are happening where they usually don't, and there are droughts in usually wet areas. The changing climate may trigger an early migration. If the animals migrate early because of rising temperatures, then when they arrive to their destination, there might not be the necessary resources for them to survive. For example, if some birds migrate early because of dropping temperatures, then when they reach their destination, there might not be available the food they need.
